What is a dental implant?

Dental implants are permanent replacement for missing teeth. A titanium rod is placed into your jawbone to replace the roots of your original teeth. An abutment and crown are then placed on the implant to provide you with a new tooth that looks just like a natural tooth.

How are dental implants different than dentures?

Dentures are a full or partial removable set of teeth, and require a special type of care to keep clean and functional. They can often feel bulky and may be difficult to get used to. Dental implants are permanent replacements for missing teeth, and can be cared for with the same oral hygiene practices used to care for your natural teeth, including regular dental cleanings and exams.

What are the benefits of dental implants?

Who can place a dental implant?

How much do implants cost?

The cost of your dental implants depends on how many implants you are having placed, your insurance coverage, and whether or not you require additional treatments in order to receive your implants. Our dentist will need to carefully examine your mouth to determine the extent of your treatment, and will work with you to develop a financing plan if necessary. Will my insurance cover dental implants?

Your insurance coverage depends on your individual plan. Check with your insurance company to find out what your plan covers. If it does not cover dental implants check to see if you can extend your plan to receive additional coverage.

Do dental implants hurt?

No. We will give you a local anesthetic before the procedure so that you do not experience any pain. If you experience fear or anxiety, please speak with our dentist before your treatment to discuss sedation options.

How long do dental implants last?

When properly cared for, dental implants will last as long as your natural teeth. Proper oral hygiene and regular dental visits are essential to maintaining your dental implants as well as your natural teeth.

How long will it take to receive dental implants?

Implant treatments range from immediate replacements of extracted teeth to over six months, depending on whether or not jaw surgery or bone grafting is needed. The average treatment time for dental implants is 3-6 months. The majority of the time required to complete treatment is in waiting for the bone to fuse with the implant. You may be fitted with temporary teeth during the healing period.
